ABOUT ME
I am a writer, editor and researcher with a background in democracy, social movements and human rights. In October 2023, I moved to South Korea for a two-year stint as a journalism fellow with the Institute of Current World Affairs. While there, I tackled a long list of topics, including Korean women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, social movements, history and mental health.
Previously, I was an associate editor at World Politics Review, where I contributed writing and edited in-depth features and columns. I also worked as a research associate at the Human Rights Foundation and a talk coordinator and programming adviser for its Oslo Freedom Forum series. I spent my days editing speeches, writing advocacy content (op-eds, U.N. submissions, press releases) and researching the intersection between human rights abuses and authoritarianism. Earlier still, I was assistant editor at the Foreign Policy project “Democracy Lab,” which covered countries undergoing democratic transitions or crises, like Tunisia, Burma, Turkey and Venezuela.
I have a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from New York University and an M.A. in international relations from the University of Chicago’s Committee on International Relations. In Summer 2023, I studied Korean at Middlebury’s famously grueling, immersive Language School.
